In this day and age, too many of us seem to suffer from a common ailment – the disease of being busy.

Without even thinking, we answer the question, “How are you?” with “I’m so busy.” How did we create a world in which we have more and more to do, but thus, less time for leisure, reflection, community and to just be? Lisa will reflect on what this currently incurable disease of being busy means for us —as arts and cultural professionals with important work to do, and as we attempt to capture the attention of, and build engagement with, the general public for our institutions.

Director of Marketing at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Lisa Middleton is a non-profit marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of marketing and development.
She manages pricing, revenue management, direct marketing, advertising, communications and PR, social and digital media for Lyric. Lisa loves data analytics and statistics, and uses information gleaned from analysis to guide the development of strategic directions for database segmentation, pricing analysis and model building all with an eye to maximize revenue and increase patron engagement. 

Lisa Middleton previously held roles in marketing and development at the Stratford Festival of Canada, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Sunnybrook Hospital, the Kidney Foundation and the Canadian Diabetes Association. Lisa holds a BSc from York University in Toronto, Canada.
